Why the profile is a source AI tools rely on
When someone asks an AI tool "which dental clinic in Riyadh is open on Friday evening", the tool needs facts it can trust: that the clinic exists, where it is, when it opens, what it does, what customers say. Your website says those things, but a website can say anything. A Google Business Profile is a record Google has verified, with reviews from real accounts. That is why it carries weight.
For a shop, clinic, restaurant, workshop or any service company with a location or a service area, the profile is the single most valuable free page you own. For a pure online business it matters less, and the work moves to the website.
The fields that matter most
Not every field carries the same weight. The ones below decide whether a business is understood correctly.
- Primary category. The one line that tells every tool what you are. Choose the most specific true category, not the broadest. "Dental clinic", not "Medical center", if that is what you are.
- Name. Exactly your real business name, as on your sign and your website. No added keywords, no city names stuffed in; tools and Google both penalise that.
- Address or service area. Precise, and identical to your website footer.
- Hours, including holidays. Wrong hours are the most common reason a customer, or an AI tool, gives up on a business.
- Services and products. List them with short plain descriptions. These lines are what match a customer's question to your business.
- Description. Two or three plain sentences: what you do, for whom, where. Facts, not slogans.
- Photos. Recent, real, of the place and the work. Tools read them too.
- Reviews and replies. Recent, specific reviews and a reply to each.
The mistakes that make tools skip you
- Contradictions. Hours, name or address that differ between the profile, the website and directories. Tools cross-check, and a contradiction lowers confidence in everything you say.
- An abandoned profile. No new photos, no replies, no posts for a year. It reads as a business that may have closed.
- Keyword stuffing in the name. It looks like manipulation and can get the profile suspended.
- Unanswered bad reviews. A one-star review with no reply tells the tool, and the customer, that nobody is watching.
- Duplicate profiles. Two profiles for one location split the reviews and confuse every tool.
How the profile and your website work together
The profile is the record. The website is the explanation. AI tools use the profile to confirm you exist and what you are, then read your website for the detail: how you work, what a service includes, answers to specific questions.
That is why the two must agree, line for line, and why the website needs answer pages and structured data of its own. Our article on GEO, generative engine optimization covers that side. The short version: profile for trust, website for depth, and the same facts on both.
Reviews in your customers' language
Reviews written in Arabic help an Arabic question; reviews in English help an English one. Ask customers to review after the service, in the language they used with you, and reply in the same language. A reply does not need to be long. It needs to be specific, polite and prompt. Angry reviews deserve a calm reply and an invitation to continue in private.
Our reviews manager drafts the reply the same day and asks every customer for a review after the service; the details are on the services page.
A fifteen-minute check for your profile
Open your profile as a customer would, on a phone, and go through this list.
| Check | Fix if |
|---|---|
| Category | It is broader than what you actually do |
| Name | It contains anything other than your real name |
| Hours | Any day is wrong, or holidays are not set |
| Services | Fewer than your real services are listed, or descriptions are empty |
| Photos | The newest is more than a few months old |
| Reviews | Any review has no reply |
| Website match | Any fact differs from your site |
Most profiles fail on hours, services and replies. Those three take an afternoon to fix and make a visible difference in how tools describe you.
